For school I have found that it is good for Carter to write letters... He gets to write what ever he wants and I help him with the spelling. He and Grandpa Wall are pen pal's and are starting to keep the postal service busy between Salt Lake & Idaho Falls!

McKay got this color by numbers book for Christmas and Carter has taken it over! He asked one day if he could do it & I told him it might be a little too hard for him but to give it a try and an hour later this is what it looked like.

Someone is finally potty trained... I don't even start until they turn three & just like the others it was a breeze... But, I do laugh every time I walk by the bathroom and see this! Frog boots and all!

I planted some bulbs in January and have them out in the cold hardening and can't wait to bring them inside for spring.

And someone just happened to turn three! Yes, I am a little behind! I had the cutest idea for his cake in my mind when we went to the store... But, when he saw the Lightning McQueen and Mater candles it was over! I will be honest & admit that I said no to the candles... I had a cute cake in mind!! But, it was his lucky day because Grandma Wall was with us and she said yes!!!

I am so sick of living in a haze... First, it was the haze of the fire and dealing with all that had to entail. Then it was the haze of moving 2 times in three months while trying to enjoy the holidays! And now it is the haze of being pregnant and being sick out of my mind... I have never been sick with any of my other pregnancies & I now have the utmost respect and sympathy for the women who experience this every time! I did have a very frank conversation with my doctor in which he didn't have much option but to give me some drugs! So, we are starting to have a few better days! But, this has lead to a few lazy months here at the Turley house! There have truly been weeks where the only time I have left the house is to go to church on Sunday! I will admit that I am a homebody/hermit/recluse in the winter anyway... But, this has exceeded the normal!

The boys have been skiing again this winter. McKay is getting pretty good & brings me video home each week of him going off all of the jumps and doing his tricks. He loves it when he goes off of a jump and the people riding the chair lift above him start screaming and cheering for him! It's the highlight of his day! Carter is a little dare devil. He doesn't know any better than to think he can do anything McKay can & he tries! It was his first year and he was going down black diamonds and skiing backwards in no time! I appreciate all the work James puts into going up once or twice a week... It's a lot of work to get two little men out the door with all of their gear, chairs and the grill! They take a little Weber grill up and grill hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch when McKay isn't doing the ski team & the boys love it! They come home with fun stories and wonderful memories.

All three boys continue to grow faster than I like... McKay is doing amazing in school. We had parent teacher conference last week and I was beyond thrilled! As I was walking out the door with him he asked me to wait a minute & ran back inside... when he came back out I asked him what he had been doing inside and he replied "praying"! I think he was praying more for the fact that I had told him if his report card was good he could pick out a book at the book fair! And there was a Genius world record book that he had been eyeing all week and telling me about every day after school! I work really hard with my kids on their academics. We spend a lot of time outside of school working on their studies. So, I was really proud of McKay that he was performing so well. But, what I was most proud of was that his teacher told James & I that he is very respectful, considerate and a leader. That means a lot to a mom!

I continue to teach Carter preschool at home each day. He is so smart and driven. My issue with him is to know how much or how little to teach him so that he isn't completely bored to death in kindergarten next year... He is my son who tends to out think any situation. For example he decided that he didn't like making his bed every morning... But, knew it wasn't an option not to. So, he pulled out one of the sleeping bags and puts it on his bed each night and sleeps inside of the sleeping bag on top of his bed. Then when he wakes up in the morning he puts it away under his bed & his bed is still made! No having to make his bed each morning!!! He's also the son who is trying to convince us to eat every meal on paper plates because then the cleanup would be so much faster!

Cannon is at a very delicious stage! Seriously! I just want to eat him up! And as I know that his time as the baby of the family is limited I am truly trying to enjoy him as such! However, he is getting a little attitude as every child in our neighborhood can attest to who has tried to get him to share the little razor scooter the boys ride around! There's just no getting him off of it! And he is pretty much convinced that he should be able to do everything his older brothers are doing & is heartbroken when he can't. He is a lover though and it is pretty much one of the cutest things in the world when he has to go apologize to someone for being mean! He melts everyone! He is potty trained but hates to wear under ware! I will put it on him and he will sneak it off and hide it & go without! When I ask him about it he says "I don't wike wonderware"!

Baseball season is fast upon us. Carter is signed up for machine pitch this year so between him & McKay we will have baseball games/practices every night of the week. Carter is excited to get a full uniform this year & I am pretty excited to see him in it! I don't think there is anything much cuter on little boys than baseball uniforms!

We're just enjoying being a little family and wondering what a new addition will bring!

Checkers Anyone?

Pa (Grandpa Turley) has been teaching the boys how to play checkers... McKay will play once or twice but Carter is a little addicted. He's getting quite good too & takes it very personal if you jump one of his kings... at times there are tears involved & we have to remind him it is just a game & he is getting much better at controlling his emotions! We always end school each day with playing a game. I like to end it on a fun note & it gives him something to look forward to. The last week he has wanted to play checkers and I love to see his little brain at work as he plots out his moves. He truly gets it! Thanks Pa for making special memories with the boys!
